We are so excited to present our big news! Svensk Ull is a rustic 3-strand wool yarn that you can knit both small and large projects with. Did you know that over a thousand tons of Swedish wool is burned or thrown away every year? We want to change that.
Being able to use our own, local raw material and being able to show how beautiful and useful Swedish wool yarn is feels both fun and important.
The wool in the yarn comes from Swedish sheep farms in Skåne and Halland and is spun by Klippan Yllefabrik outside Riga for Järbo.
Using Swedish wool in large production is not simple. Everything from shearing and sorting to spinning the wool today takes place on a very small scale. Our hope is that our investment will stimulate both sheep farmers and spinneries to dare to invest in our fine wool!
All shades apart from the natural white are dyed on a base of gray Gotland wool, which gives vivid and exciting color changes in the yarn. We are especially proud of the color palette - our goal is that each color should both speak for itself and be matched with other colors.
The idea with the collection was to take Swedish wool into the future, by creating stylish garments, where the rustic and traditional are combined with a more contemporary style. The hope is that the garments will appeal to many - not least because they are easy to knit and crochet.
